Harvests being bountiful this time of year, go with the local produce as much as possible.
Soups are a great meal or side dish.
Squash,root vegetables, and fruits such as pears and apples are prevalent.Roots are healers.
Indian cooking uses this “Trinity root” combination: Ginger root,onion and garlic.These are warming and invigorate circulation.
The immune system is enhanced also.Use them in your stir-fry saute Ginger till brown, add onion and just barely cook
garlic so it can be added last to whatever dish you cook
Turmeric is used generously in Indian cooking and has many healing properties including joint health.

“Golden Milk” is a nice bedtime drink.
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 cup of milk(Almond, oat , soy, rice milks) may be used as Non-dairy choice)
Drop of oil(coconut or mild vegetable oil or ghee which is clarified butter)
sprinkle of Cinnamon

Heat milk in saucepan,add Turmeric till it boils.reduce to simmer for another minute till turmeric changes to slightly darker color
Add Cinnamon and sweetener if desired.Honey is lovely.
Short cut: make a paste in water with 1/2 cup Turmeric in 1-1 1/2 cups water , boil then simmer till color changes, cool and store in a jar in frig .
Scoop out 1/2 tsp paste to heat in cup of milk if use microwave( not really great to use but handy!) ad oil cinnamon and sweeten.
